Dora, Dora, Dora THE Explorer...dances!

Dora! Oh we love her. AND, now she has a new release featuring DANCE! Lili has been in dance a couple years now, so dance is super on the top of our list. Here is a little about this new release, which is for sale exclusively at your local Target stores NOW:

Brothers and Sisters on DVD!

This DVD is pretty neat! I wasn't exactly sure what to expect and then we put it in, both the girls and I. We sat there and watched it together. I think it is SO cute! And it is PERFECT for our family situation right now. The reason I think it is so perfect is because it's all about being big brothers and big sisters. And how perfect is that for our family since we are expecting Baby #3.

Nickelodeon just released on February 8, 2011, Sisters and Brothers.

Sisters and brothers can sometimes bring conflict, but it’s the resolution and positive relationships that make them the best friends in the world. This February, see how your Nickelodeon favorites deal with their siblings with Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, Blue’s Clues, Wonder Pets!, and Ni Hao, Kai-lan – all together on one DVD.

We just LOVE anything Mickey or Minnie in our house. Since visiting Disney in Florida when Lili was 3.5 years old, she has a special thing for these two. When I heard that Disney was coming out with another new DVD that featured MINNIE, I knew Lili would be pumped! Tom and Jerry are BACK!

I'm not sure who was more excited, either Mike or Lili, to receive one of our newest DVD's in the mail, Tom & Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures. After opening the DVD, Mike put it in the DVD player and proceeded to tell Lili how this was his favorite cartoon when he was a kid. After he was done talking about it, Lili and Mike sat together and watched the whole DVD...*aww*. Adalynn quickly came in to join in on the action and they all sat and laughed together watching these classic cartoons.

Everyone’s favorite animated cat and mouse are back in Tom and Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures, a new DVD collection from Warner Home Video (WHV) that features 14 rip-roaring cartoon shorts that will entertain both kids and adults.

The Chihuahua's are Back!

When I first heard that there was a new Beverly Hills Chihuahua coming out, I knew I had to look into it more. My girls just love *anything* dog! Not surprised, because Mike and I love dogs too!

Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 was released February 1, 2011. It's a winner just like first Beverly Hills Chihuahua. I thought the acting was a little better in the first one, but my kids sure couldn't tell the difference and I didn't think it was that bad. I sat all the way through it after all :)

From the creators of Beverly Hills Chihuahua, everybody’s favorite talking Chihuahuas are back in a comedy that’s a pack of outrageous fun for the whole family. Puppy mayhem turns the lives of newlywed Chihuahua parents, Papi and Chloe, upside down when their playful puppies present one challenge after another. But, when their human owners find themselves in trouble, the tiny pups will stop at nothing to save them—because in good times and hard times, the family always sticks together. Papi, Chloe and the puppies embark on a heroic adventure, proving once again that big heroes come in small packages.

Lili just loves during the "runway show" when all the dogs were doing their tricks...she kept yelling at me to come in and see what they were doing. Also, we love ALL the puppies in it! We are a big dog family and my girls love anything that has dogs! They were laughing every time the puppies were "acting" up!

I will admit, I was a little disappointed to see that the main characters from the first one were not in this one, but the new characters just as a fantastic job. In reality though, the kids still loved it. It didn't matter who the "humans" were anyways, they LOVED all the antics the dogs were doing!

Secretariat - Best Movie Release in a While!

Words can't express how GREAT a movie this is! It is just fabulous!

We LOVE movies that show someone overcoming an obstacle, my husband and I are big rooters for the underdog and this movie is yet another fabulous example of just that. The fact that it is a true story added even more emotion to the whole movie experience.

Disney presents an astonishing true story bursting with hope, heart and courage. Diane Lane and John Malkovich lead a celebrated cast in this inspirational motion picture from the producers of Miracle, Invincible and The Rookie.

So...after reading that, if you have seen any of the movies that are listed above (Miracle, Invincible and The Rookie), you will know the immense emotion contained in these movies.

Behind every legend lies an impossible dream. Witness the spectacular journey of an incredible horse named Secretariat and the moving story of his unlikely owner, a housewife who risked everything to make him a champion. Out of the gate with never-before-seen bonus features, Secretariat is hours of pulse-pounding entertainment for the whole family! Rated G.

I would not hesitate to have Lili watch this with us, there is not ONE scene that I feel she should not see. It is just an excellent movie.

This is a perfect, safe movie to add to any family movie library. I personally think we all need a copy! So much can be learned from the lessons shown in this movie. From not giving up on your dream, to pushing through all the adversity one may get when chasing the dream.

Max & Ruby BunnyTales!

Jump for joy! Max and Ruby are back with a new DVD adventure Max & Ruby: BunnyTales! As usual Max is up to his usual antics but Ruby is there to help maintain order and follow the rules.

We love Max & Ruby! It's one of the favorite shows in our house. We have a couple of the shows DVR'd so we have some on hand all the time.

Nickelodeon’s Max & Ruby is a half-hour animated comedy series based on the children's books by Rosemary Wells. Each episode centers on Max, a determined three-year-old bunny, and his big sister, Ruby, a smart, goal-oriented seven-year-old. On January 11, 2011 Nickelodeon is releasing their newest Max & Ruby DVD. There are a TON of episodes on this DVD. Your little one will love it!

Monkey Around with Monkey Music!

Fantasia Forever!

When I put the new Fantasia DVD in the DVD Player, I was instantly brought back to my childhood. I distinctively remember when the first Fantasia was released. I was standing in the grocery store with my mom pleading for it. She eventually caved and it was ours. My sister and I watched it together, great memories. Approximately 15 years later. I am excited for my girls to have the opportunity to create similar memories with this movie.

Disney's Newest Release - The Sorcerer's Apprentice!

If you have been reading SIMPLE for any amount of time now, you know that we love Disney. They recently released The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Here is a non-exclusive clip from the DVD:

This is not one that we will be watching with our girls for quite some time - afterall they are only 1 and 4. It isn't a young kid friendly movie in my opinion. There are some "scary" parts. It was nice to get a movie night in with my hubby! I love Nicholas Cage and he did a fabulous job in this movie...just like all the others he has done!
Here is a little more about it if you haven't seen it yet:
A fun, modern-day adventure follows Dave (JAY BARUCHEL), just an average college student, or so it appears, until the sorcerer Balthazar Blake (NICOLAS CAGE) recruits him as his reluctant protégé and gives him a crash course in the art and science of magic. As he prepares for a battle against the forces of darkness in modern-day Manhattan, Dave finds it is going to take all of the courage he can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE.

To all the Charlie Brown Lovers!

For all you Charlie Brown lovers out there, I am featuring two for you today!

First, we have Charlie Brown's Christmas Tales. In standard format, it's a "holiday special made up of a series of animated vignettes, each featuring members of the Peanuts gang." Perfect for anyone who loves the Peanuts! Also included on this disc is the rarely seen "Is This Goodbye, Charlie Brown?". This is about when Charlie Brown is faced with the departure of Linus and Lucy who must move when their father is transferred to a job in another town.

Next, we have the Peanuts Holiday Collection. This is newly released on blu-ray for the first time! This is a "box set that contains three popular seasonal Peanuts specials in one set ("A Charlie Brown Christmas," "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," and "It's a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown"."

Lili has been learning all about Thanksgiving at her school the past few weeks. I just love listening to her tell me about what she has learned. It was fun to pop this in and watch it with her. She thought it was super funny that in "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" she got to see the "characters" she had been learning about in school.

My little 4-year old is constantly asking question about Santa Claus about this time of year - especially since we see him everywhere. I was sent this little article and I thought I would share it with you as well:

As parents, we pass down the stories and traditions of Santa Claus. Even if we can’t think of a logical explanation as to how he visits every home on one night or why there are so many Santa look-alikes all around town each December, it is important that we support the TRUE meaning of Christmas... The simplest thing is to tell your children to have faith and to just believe. Children love magic, so if you just explain that Santa is magical, that should hopefully help them understand the underlying spirit of Christmas.

Santa Claus is a wonderful tradition, and establishing traditions in your family that get passed down from generation to generation—such as baking cookies for Santa and his elves each Christmas Eve or leaving carrots out for his reindeer—helps create a bond between you and your children. It also makes the holiday more meaningful, memorable and fun for kids, who otherwise might complain about wearing a coat and tie to Christmas Eve dinner at grandma’s. So despite the fact that logic may tell you otherwise, make a point of teaching your children about Santa Claus, his 8 tiny reindeer, his sleigh, his workshop...
